Scalable Filter Solutions for Automotive Inverters

As power densities in electric drivetrains continue to increase, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is becoming an increasingly important factor. Swoboda has expanded its portfolio to include EMC filter solutions for automotive applications. The custom-engineered filters reduce conducted electromagnetic interference in high-voltage systems and are specifically designed for electric vehicles.

The filter design takes both electrical and mechanical aspects into account. They are rated for direct currents of up to 700 amperes and operating voltages ranging from 48 to 960 volts. With a typical noise frequency range of 150 kHz to 108 MHz, they cover the relevant spectrum of conducted interference. The filters can be used within a temperature range of –40 °C to +85 °C.

To ensure high reliability, the filters are tested in accordance with the CISPR 25 EMC standard. Their design complies with clearance and creepage distance requirements as specified in DIN EN IEC 60664, as well as functional safety requirements under ISO 26262. Swoboda customizes the filters not only electrically but also mechanically to fit the available installation space. Thermal simulations and frequency response measurements support the development process and ensure stable filtering performance under real operating conditions.

Typical applications include inverters, electric motor drives, and externally excited synchronous motors. The filters are developed specifically for each customer application and can be scaled according to current-carrying capacity, voltage range, and temperature performance requirements.
