Swoboda plans to close the Schorndorf site

The automotive supplier Swoboda announces the planned closure of its site in Schorndorf (Baden-Württemberg). The sales and development center near Stuttgart is to be closed by mid-2026.

The reason for the planned closure is the high cost pressure and the associated decline in competitiveness. On 6 November 2025, the works council and the employees were informed and the necessary discussions with the works council began.

Around 140 jobs are affected by the measure. For the employees in Schorndorf, the company is striving for socially acceptable solutions – in close coordination with the works council. In addition, further employment opportunities in other companies of the Swoboda Group are being examined for some of the employees. "This step is extremely difficult for us, but it is necessary to maintain our competitiveness," explains Dr. Matthias Groth, owner of Swoboda.

The sensor business, which is located in Schorndorf, is to be relocated to other companies of the Swoboda Group. For the company's customers, the management assures seamless continued support. Despite the planned closure in Schorndorf, Swoboda is maintaining its presence in Germany.
