Swoboda expands development center

The internationally active automotive supplier Swoboda recently opened a modern new building at its research and development center in Schorndorf near Stuttgart.

In the approximately 2,000 square metre office building, 65 employees from sales, purchasing, project management and personnel took up their work. A total of 5 million euros has been invested.

The new building in Schorndorf has a high energy saving potential due to its ecological construction. In addition to ultra-modern conference rooms, it offers employees and customers an inviting company restaurant and its own lounge with roof terrace on the 2nd floor. The building is barrier-free; the car park has been expanded to 150 parking spaces. More than 70 new jobs are to be created in the medium term and already supplemented by around 230 employees. The existing administration building is currently being redesigned and modernised. Here, engineers in particular will find ideal working conditions to develop innovations for the technology company.

Six months ago, Swoboda established its own management division for its development topics. In autumn 2018, the company acquired two companies in Karlsruhe to create a further development location in order to strengthen its competencies in a targeted manner. "The engineering teams at the Swoboda sites in Schorndorf, Karlsruhe and Wiggensbach work very closely together. They combine the know-how of the two automotive states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. At the same time, we are also taking up the impetus from our worldwide locations and bundling our technologies," says Harald Schöpp, member of the Swoboda Board of Management responsible for engineering.
